Fuels

Eastman BioExtend™ antioxidant solutions allow biodiesel users to get more from their fuel while protecting their machinery. BioExtend helps prevent solid formation in biodiesel, which is prone to oxidation because it’s made from vegetable oil and animal fat. Using our products helps keep fuel flowing freely and prevents filter clogs and other deposits that could slow the production process.

Slow down damage

Oxidation can’t be prevented, but our products can slow the process. Antioxidants are compounds that interrupt the oxidation process by reacting with fat to form a stable element that does not quickly react with oxygen.

Antioxidants cannot “fix” oxidized materials, so starting early with BioExtend products is important; they are only effective if added early in the life of biodiesel. Antioxidants are virtually ineffective when added to oxidized systems.

Among BioExtend’s benefits:

  • Outstanding antioxidative power
  • Superior results at low concentrations
  • Dual antioxidative system for increased performance
  • Works well in extreme temperatures

BioExtend also comes in a solution, so there’s no need to dissolve it.

Why BioExtend?

BioExtend 30 is a combination of the powerful antioxidant MTBHQ and an effective chelating agent, which aids in bonding with metal. This combination boosts the antioxidative power to block the rapid oxidation of biodiesel. Unlike other antioxidants, only small quantities of BioExtend are needed to achieve targeted stability levels, providing effective and durable protection.

BioExtend is a dual system, acting in the initiation phase as well as the propagation phase. Therefore, it’s efficient in slowing down oxidation. BioExtend provides superior oxidative stability in biodiesel produced from raw materials including soy, rapeseed, sunflower and palm.
